Star In Machine Head Video

Posted on February 12, 2008

Machine Head are in search of Machine Head fans, ideally but not limited to those within the San Francisco Bay Area, with a Machine Head tattoo of any kind, to be cast in their upcoming video for “Days Turn Blue To Gray”. So if you live in or around the Bay Area, or are willing to travel and don’t mind covering your own expenses, send the band an e-mail to submissions@machinehead1.com with your name, hometown, age and a picture of your tattoo by September 21st, and they will contact you if you’ve been chosen! Please note, there will be no rushing out to get a Machine Head tattoo just so you can have a chance to get in the video. Machine Head do not condone the idea, and will not accept any submissions of fresh work. Machine Head return to European shores from Oct 9th, for a run of 49 shows, including the UK, with God Forbid in support. A third band is yet to be confirmed.

Trashiest Band In The UK

Posted on February 12, 2008

Acey Slade, guitarist for the MURDERDOLLS, is giving “the chance of a lifetime” to a lucky U.K. band. While on tour with his new group, TRASH LIGHT VISION, Slade will be searching for a band to bestow the title “Trashiest Band in the U.K.” upon. Finalists will get to open for TRASH LIGHT VISION at their London show on Tuesday, October 5 at The Underworld. The winner will be picked at the show by Acey, Alex Kane from the band ANTIPRODUCT, and will be based in part on audience participation. The winning group will receive a prize pack with gifts from Manic Panic, D’Andria guitar pedals and effects, Sanctuary Records, BC Rich Guitars, Merch Monster Clothing, air time on Total Rock Radio, TRASH LIGHT VISION merchandise, and items from the Bats store in Manchester, most of it packed in Acey’s personal backpack. The entire concert will be filmed for Detonator TV, who encourage the participating acts to behave as decadently as they chose. The bands can enter the contest by sending links and MP3s to aceyslade@aceyslade.com or presenting a press kit at a TRASH LIGHT VISION show prior to the Underworld show. “I’ve been fortunate enough to go all over the world and play music,” said Acey in a statement. “I’m always searching out new bands and quite frankly, I’m disgusted by how sterile they are. So, I’m looking for the trashiest band I can find. Once I find them, I’m going to shower them with gifts to help further and support their decadent lifestyle. Whether it’s music equipment or hair dye, their trash will be treasured.” blabbermouth.net

What do you know about “Vermilion” and “Vermilion Pt. 2” off Slipknot’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)? Your knowledge on the subject is about to expand… The song “Vermilion” begins the story of obsession, and “Vermilion Pt. 2” is a haunting continuation of the story. The melody and the overriding theme run through both versions, making them integral pieces to the same complex puzzle. “The differences (between the 2 tracks) are subtle – Vermilion Pt. 1 is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis,” says Corey Taylor. “Part 2 is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it.” A separate video was shot for each version of the track in Los Angeles in late-August. The clip for “Vermilion” was directed by Tony Petrossian and M. Shawn Crahan, co-directors of the “Duality” video. The video for “Vermilion Pt. 2” is being directed by Mark Klasfeld. Expect both videos to surface simultaneously soon, and expect to see another side of Slipknot you have never seen before. The concept of the “Vermilion” video follows a young woman whose life is completely out of phase with the rest of the world. For every day that goes by her, she grows further away from her imprint of time in this reality. All she can do is stand alone and contemplate her isolation. Throughout the video, the only things in balance are her visions of the members of Slipknot in her subconscious. “This is REAL,” says Clown. “We chose to go down an artistic wormhole, and give our fans a beginning look of what else lies within our thought process. Whereas “Duality” captured the real intimacy of what we share with our fans, with “Vermilion,” we finalize that chapter by grabbing a hold of our fans and taking them deeper into the experience of Slipknot. It’s all starting over again – THIS IS REAL!” until these videos surface, check out Slipknot’s PHOTO GALLERY for stills from the 1st “Vermilion” video

Jack Of All Trades

Posted on February 12, 2008

Did you know? Last week, after watching Killswitch Engage’s set from side stage in Spokane, 36 Crazyfists bassist Mick Whitney fell off the stage while exiting. One wrong step caused him a broken shoulder. Mick spent the night at the local hospital, and the band was forced to miss the 4 ensuing Canadian shows (Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg). Mick since got his footing back, and the band continued on with the tour in Tulsa, OK. Yes, not even broken bones stopped Mick. He has been playing with a broken shoulder… give that man PROPS! However, Mick is currently on his way back to Alaska due to extenuating circumstances. That being said, there are still a handful of dates left to be played on this US tour…and yes, the show will go on… Who will be playing bass for 36 CF on these remaining US shows? Hint: He was originally the drummer for Killswitch Engage, and is now on guitar. Yes, Jack-Of-All-Musical trades, Adam Dutkiewicz. In other 36CF news, if you fancy giving the boys a helping hand, ‘Bloodwork’ is currently up for votes on the NME chart on MTV2’s website. You can vote for them HERE. 36 Crazyfists hit UK shores from October 3rd.

Time To Rock

Posted on February 12, 2008

By the powers of the internet, we had a quick chat online this morning with Chris & Matt from Chimaira, all the way over in Japan, 90 minutes before they were due to play a show in Nagoya. RR: Hey! Matt, Chimaira: Hello! Chris, Chimaira: Hey! What’s up? RR: Where are you, right this second? Matt, Chimaira: In Nagoya, Japan right now, sharing a hotel room w/ Chris. Chris, Chimaira: Wireless connection in our hotel room. We play in 90 minutes. RR: How is it going over there? Matt, Chimaira: It’s been awesome. Chris, Chimaira: It’s pretty cool, Tokyo is awesome. The people here are so welcoming, and RR Japan is super nice too. We are pampered here …I love it! RR: So, tour food this trip. Have you eaten Japanese food, or did you go to a McDonalds? Chris, Chimaira: I’ve eaten Japanese food… love it. Handy if someone is around to tell me what it is though. I only had McDonalds once. Last night every single one of us went to a Korean grill… they bring meat, veggies out and you cook it yourself at the table, you get rice and stuff to mix with it. RR: Cool. What are the fans like at the shows? Same as here? Chris, Chimaira: Not as much moshing, our Japanese fans like to chant along with the songs more. In between songs there’s complete silence from the crowd tho, kinda crazy. Everyone is really intelligent and pays attention to what’s going on. It’s hard to really explain but they are insane! And there is still some crowd-surfing, even though it’s not like the USA or Europe. Japan watches more than they move, whereas in Europe there’s tons of action on the floor. Plus the first two or three rows in Japan are all girls. We get guys in business suits at our shows too. We had some fans show up at our hotel… and it was these guys in business suits walking up to us for autographs. RR: Very different then huh? And now, only a few more shows and you get to go home eh?! Chris, Chimaira: Yep… 6. One here in Japan (soon!) and then 5 in Australia. Matt, Chimaira: I’m glad we’re touring here and Australia, it’s an awesome way to end being on the road for a year and a half. I am looking forward to getting home to my baby & my bed after though! RR: Did you get to see any of Japan this trip? Chris, Chimaira: Last night Matt and I took a cab to this area in Tokyo… where all the buildings are covered in lights. It’s kinda the shady part of town but we wanted to take pics as it looks cool as hell! RR: Why covered in lights? Early for Christmas? Chris, Chimaira: Ha, no, it’s all adverts I think. [See Chris’s photos HERE & HERE.] But it’s also an area full of hookers, gangs…etc. RR: So this is why you REALLY went there…! Chris, Chimaira: Hahah no.. you know I’m not like that! Pretty cool though, huh? We also saw the biggest intersection in the world. [See Chris’s photo HERE.] RR: Very cool. So is this all around Tokyo? Chris, Chimaira: Yea all Tokyo… it’s huge. I’m a good tour guide?! RR: Yes, good job. How’s your new drummer taking to it all? Chris, Chimaira: He’s loving it. He’s up every night, partying fucking hard. He’s never been over here before. He’s a crazy one, but super nice. If he tries to be a pest, he’ll soon learn once we smack him around! Matt, Chimaira: It has been cool touring w/ Kevin, everyone seems more energized, even when feeling pretty burnt after so long on the road. RR: Looking forward to seeing Australia next? You’ve never been there right? Never seen a koala? Matt, Chimaira: No, we’ve never been. I hear the crowds are crazy so it should be fun! Chris, Chimaira: I plan on seeing as much as possible. I have some family who recently moved to Melbourne. I can’t wait to see stuff like the Opera House etc. RR: Any last words? Chris, Chimaira: It’s time to rock!
