I Am Not Dead

Posted on February 12, 2008

Did you hear internet gossip last week that Corey Taylor had died? “First it was an overdose, than a fatal car crash,” his wife Scarlett said Friday night, having received a plethora of worried phone calls from friends & maggots. “I am not dead,” Taylor yelled from the front patio, during their son’s second birthday party. His father-in-law laughed and said, “Reports of his death are greatly exaggerated.”

Updates From The Studio

Posted on February 12, 2008

a few notes of interest from the studio this week: The Agony Scene – sweet home Oklahoma…the band is currently at home in Oklahoma recording demos. Theory Of A Deadman – it’s been a while since we last had a Theory update. Here’s one: the band has been holed up at Bay 7 Studios in LA for the past month and a half. In fact, word is the recording of their second release will wrap up next week. Trivium – remember when we said the start date for Trivium hitting the studio was pushed back due to the weather in Florida? Well, we lied. Trivium hit Morrisound studios in Florida on Monday (Sep 13) as originally scheduled. In fact, we are told that all the drums have already been recorded. True. THIS, is The Production Gospel According To Dave…you have been warned…phase II is upon us…resistance is futile…

Still Remains

Posted on February 12, 2008

Roadrunner Records proudly announces the signing of Still Remains. Hailing from Grand Rapids, MI, Still Remains has rapidly established themselves as one of heavy music’s most startling young bands. A lucky handful of you may have seen them alongside the likes of As I Lay Dying, Zao and Haste The Day at some point during the year. What does it sound like, you ask? Heart-crushing howls turn to heartfelt melodies amidst a swirl of keyboards – guitars chug brutally and then harmonize like Iron Maiden on overdrive while songs like “I Can Revive Him With My Own Hands” feel like the last hours of a very bad day sped up in time-lapse. Still Remains came to Roadrunner through A&R man Mike Gitter (Killswitch Engage, Cradle of Filth). “I’ve never heard a band that smashes together Swedish metal, American metalcore and Saddle Creek-ish indie-rock all at once,” says Gitter. “Then they push it all emotionally and over the edge! Guaranteed, this is the beginning of something great for years to come.” Still Remains will be hitting the studio this Fall for their Roadrunner debut, slated for release in 2005. Until then, check our MUSIC section for an MP3 download of the track “I Can Revive Him With My Own Hands” from the band’s If Love Was Born To Die EP (available at a record store near you).

Sanity And A Dream

Posted on February 12, 2008

Last week we posted an update on the site from Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter talking about the band’s upcoming DVD titled The Dehumanizing Process. Since that time, the band played dates in Japan (for the first time), are now playing in Australia (for the first time), the DVD has been given a new release date (NOT the first time we have changed release dates), and we have a press release on the DVD. The new release date for the DVD is now 25/10 (yes, was actually moved UP a week), and the press release (well written and informative) is as follows: CHIMAIRA TO RELEASE THE DEHUMANIZING PROCESS DVD On October 25th Chimaira will release The Dehumanizing Process DVD, a 90 minute, behind-the-scenes documentary that follows the band from writing and recording their latest album The Impossibility of Reason in 2003, through their stint on the Road Rage tour with labelmates, Machine Head and Trivium this past August. In addition to the documentary, the DVD includes almost an hour of performance footage captured live around the world. Finally, as an added bonus, the package will include the This Presents Darkness EP, the EP the band released on their own and that initially brought them to the attention of Roadrunner Records. “It’s been a tremendous ride so far,” says vocalist Mark Hunter, “and I feel fortunate enough to be able to show our fans what it’s like to actually be in this group because we feel they are the 7th member and we couldn’t have done any of this without them.” When Chimaira released their sophomore effort for Roadrunner Records, The Impossibility of Reason, in May of 2003, it marked both the end of a journey and the beginning of a new one. Over the past year and a half, the band has toured with some of the biggest names in hard rock and metal (Slipknot, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Fear Factory), played Ozzfest, shot three videos (one of which ended in a fiery blaze), gone through three drummers, fought illness, English thugs and one another, to come out on top. The Dehumanizing Process DVD, directed by Todd Bell, is this period of time caught on tape. It is an hour-and-a-half documentary of a band trying to hold onto their sanity and dream. Also included in this package is the This Present Darkness EP. Released independently before they were signed, this updated version has previously unavailable bonus tracks and new liner notes written by lead singer, Mark Hunter. Out of Cleveland, OH, Chimaira formed in 1998 and has since released an EP and two albums, the This Present Darkness EP (1999), Pass Out of Existence (2001) and The Impossibility of Reason (2003).
