Ferret/Roadrunner Records is proud to announce the signing of Madball to their family of artists. Madball, the pinnacle of New York hardcore will record their upcoming album in May with production from Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Throwdown). The album ‘Legacy’ will be released Aug 1st after the band finishes The Sounds Of The Underground tour this summer (alongside Opeth, Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die, High On Fire and others). Madball, who have carved their own place in the hierarchy of hardcore features Freddy Cricien on vocals, brother of Roger Miret (Agnostic Front). Originally the group was Agnostic Front with Freddy in the front spot, all at the ripe age of twelve years old! The group re-tooled with new members including mainstay Hoya on bass and released classic albums on Roadrunner Records such as Set It Off and Demonstrating My Style while in their teens. The band’s last full-length Hold It Down was on Epitaph Records and marked the band’s most mature release combining their previous fury with a more tempered attack. Label Pres, Carl Severson says of the band: í¢äåñI remember skating back from Vintage Vinyl in NJ with Mike Olender (future vocalist of Burnt By The Sun) after picking up the first Madball EP on vinyl. I couldn’t wait to get home and play it, I’ve bought every album since and I still feel the same, I can’t wait to hear the new album! Ferret is a young, aggressive label and Madball is still a young, aggressive band ready to take over the world.í¢äå Cricien echoes this sentiment í¢äåñFor the first time I feel like we are on a label that gets the band. Ferret comes from the same scene we do, they are fans and they have a lot of passion for what they do.í¢äå Cricien, who took time off from Madball to exorcise his musical demons with Hazen St. (feat members of H20 & New Found Glory) is back spreading the hardcore reality with Hoya, Mitts (guitar) and Rigg Ross (drums). Speaking of the new Madball material, Cricien says í¢äåñTo the fans, personally I feel like it’s our best material. It’s still heavy, it’s still in your face and talks about real life, but it also has groove and really heavy production.í¢äå
Name: Matan Cohen Age: 23 Instrument: Guitar All time favourite record? AC/DC í¢äåäóì Highway to hell Greatest experience on tour? Supporting Fear Factory in Holland! And drinking the whole bar! Most horrible experience on tour? Got sick with a fucking Streptococcus in my throat and had to play all shows on tour on massive amounts of pain killers. Most embarrassing moment on stage? Last year we played a show in Israel in front of 2,500 people í¢äåäóì I’ve been drinking too much that day and had a feeling I was going to puke every second. At the end, we finished the show but I didn’t even get to put my guitar aside and I threw up like a m/f. Do you have any sort of ritual before going on stage? Just getting warmed up and play on my guitar. With which band would you love to tour with? SLAYER!!!!!!!!!! If I couldn’t be a musician, I would work as… Roadie/Manager. Best advice you ever heard? “Follow your dreams.” With which famous person (alive or dead) would you love to spend some time and why? Dimebag Darrell, he has influenced my style has a musician far more than anyone has ever influenced my life, always wanted to tour or at least hang out with the guy. What’s one thing you would like to achieve in life? ’till a few months ago, I would say signing with Roadrunner Records, but now that’s been achieved, I would have to say selling a billion copies. ☺ Last Words: For those about to rock í¢äåäóì I SALUTE YOU! According to a posting on Blabbermouth the following tentative tracklist has been listed for Soulfly’s forthcoming album ‘Dark Ages’. 01. The Dark Ages 02. Babylon 03. I And I 04. Carved Inside 05. Obliteration 06. Frontlines 07. Inner Spirit 08. Corrosion Creeps 09. Riot Starter 10. Bleak 11. Feel The Hate 12. Stay Strong 13. Soulfly V 14. (untitled) In a recent interview with SoulflyWeb.com, Cavalera had the following to say about the upcoming CD: “The events that took place this past December, with the death of Dimebag Darrell and the passing of [Max’s step-grandson] Moses, had a huge influence on the way that I chose to present this album, so I’d say that that made it a bit darker. We did some of the recordings in France, Turkey, and Russia and we used some instruments that you could only find in those countries. Those recordings will definitely have a strong effect on the direction that the worldly and atmospheric elements of the album take. But Marc [Rizzo, guitar] and Joe [Nunez, drums], those guys are both huge metalheads, and they kind of forced me to make a very heavy, brutal album. I don’t listen to metal as much as I used to, but Marc just lives and breathes metal.” REMEMBER: SOULFLY – DARK AGES – OUT THIS SEPTEMBER!!
It’s been almost exactly two years since the release of Chimaira’s genre-defining metal opus The Impossibility of Reason. Filled with crushing anthems like “Pure Hatred” and “Power Trip,” the album was direct and to the point, spewing pure sonic vitriol. Touring in support of Impossibility saw Chimaira play over 330 shows in 21 countries, much of which was documented in The Dehumanizing Process DVD, which offered a unique glimpse into the making of that album and the ensuing chaos, but nary a note of new music. Well rest-assured that the creative fires have been burning bright in the belly of the beast. Chimaira have followed up The Impossibility of Reason with a crushing new album of epic proportions. The time has now come to set this monster free as something this ferocious can’t be contained forever. So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, coming next Wednesday, May 25th we will offer you “Nothing Remains” – the first new music from Chimaira in almost two years. So come back soon and be prepared to have your ass rocked so hard that you’ll be shitting sideways until August!

In todays edition of ON THE ROADRAGE WITH TRIVIUM, STILL REMAINS & 3IOB we catch up with the bands as the Fury comes to a close. REMEMBER: THE LONDON SHOW IS AT THE GARAGE!!!! DAY 12 – THURSDAY 12th – MORNING Upon arrival at Nottingham we are greeted by three bands who have never been so happy to be in the UK. ‘Dynamo was amazing!’ say’s Mike (Still Remains), ‘but we can’t wait to play in the UK again! Tonight is gonna ROCK!’ And indeed it did! DAY 12 – THURSDAY 12th – EVENING Still Remains throw themselves into their set with their usual vigor. T.J. quite literally- the dude grabbing onto the lighting rig above him and swinging his legs over the heads of the pulsing crowd! He also takes to standing on the top of the barrier and leaning into the crowd plus he partakes in not one, but TWO crowd surfs!! Jordan meanwhile is going so crazy, I worry he will knock himself out on Zach’s keyboards!! 3 Inches of Blood keep up the pace and launch into yet another caustic performance. Brian, midway through the set, slips on the pool of his own sweat that has gathered at his feet, and if that isn’t proof enough of the amount of energy these guys put into their show, he and vocalist Jamie vomit they have been rocking out so hard!!! Nice! Last on are Trivium, and yet again they whip the crowd up into a frenzy! The heat in the room from the heaving bodies has reached ridiculous proportions, but no one seems to care! At the end of the set, the guys are prevented from leaving the stage by chants of ‘TRIV-I-UM! TRIV-I-UM!í¢äå The guys are only too happy to play a few more songs, breaking into Iron Maiden’s ‘Trooper’ and Metalica’s ‘Master Of Puppets’ before set closer ‘Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr’. All three bands are, quite frankly, the SH*T!! After the show, the guys go for kebabs and a few drinks before heading back to the bus. REMEMBER THE LONDON DATE IS BEING HELD ON WEDNESDAY AT THE GARAGE
