ALTSOUNDS caught up with MURDERDOLLS recently to chat with them about their forthcoming album WOMEN AND CHILDREN LAST. As well as chatting about the album and Mick Mar’s appearance on the record , they also discussed the broader subject of Rock n Roll…
“There really isn’t a rock’n’roll scene right now,” commented Wednesday, “there’s an underground rock’n’roll scene that I’ve seen, with some really good bands and some cool people that I know, but there’s not much in the way of rock’n’roll in the spirit that we see it. We come from the old school, we grew up watching Kiss and Alice Cooper and stuff like that, we grew up watching live shows, and that’s what we do. There’s no band out there that portrays what I think is rock’n’roll. That’s why we came out with this record and our mission is to bring it back. We know what it is, but some of these kids have no idea what we’re talking about or where it comes from.”
It should come as no surprise then that with the return of Murderdolls and the release of the new record, the guys hope to bring back some of the spirit they feel is lacking from the current rock/metal ‘scene’.
“I think [Women And Children Last] represents what rock’n’roll was and what we think it should be today, Wednesday continues,

If you head on over to www.machinehead1.com, you will see that MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has updated the band’s blog there. In his latest update, he takes us all on a trip down memory lane…
“I unearthed and went through ‘the archives’, and man, what a cool trip down memory lane. Shit I hadn’t seen in probably a decade (or two). As Machine Head coolly cruise into our 18th year as a band (first show was in August ’92, but we had been jamming as a 4-piece since April ’92), I thought I’d share some of “The Flynn Vault of Doom” with you guys…”
CLICK HERE to read the full post and see the great pics Robb has posted in the entry. Robb also requested that fans/frontliners send in images of anything they may have laying around they can post,
“…anything from ’92 to ’95 that isn’t already floating around the internet. Not really interested in magazine articles/photos, we’re thinking more memorabilia-oriented stuff. So if you have access to a scanner, scan your shit (the higher the DPI the better) and shoot it over. Don’t have a scanner? Take a hi-res photo and send that over!”
If you have something you would like to send over, send it on an email to Mike @ MachineHead1.

So today sees the final part of the video track by track with PERIPHERY. Over the previous 3 days, Mischa and Spencer have been walking us through their Self Titled album track by track, giving us an idea of the sound, writing process and lyrical content of their newest release.
In this final part we learn more about ‘Zyglrox’, a track described as having a nonsensical name “because it is nonsensical; “imagine blast beats and grooves having a fight”, and ‘Racecar’- a 15 minute long epic track, which is what Mischa sees as the most representative track, given that it’s musical landscape covers every possible element that Periphery songs have ever had.
