Nickelback are currently in heavy work-mode in frontman Chad Kroeger’s MountainView Studios in Vancouver, BC on their follow up to the 3X Platinum album, THE LONG ROAD. This new CD is being produced by the band, engineered by Joey Moi, topped off by Randy Staub likely handling the mixing again – a proven winning combination. In addition to the tracks recorded for Nickelback’s upcoming record, they made time to record a cover of “We Will Rock You” for a Queen tribute record that is due out on Hollywood Records this summer. Look out for this as-yet-untitled Nickelback album in the Fall of 2005!!
ROADRUNNER RECORDS proudly present… BAND QUESTION TIME pt deux! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: What direction is your new material going? Any surprises with the new music? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: The new material is definitely going to be staying in an uplifting, positive light, hopefully a little heavier and completely full of singalongs! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: You seem to write a lot about love and heartache – what’s the worst breakup you’ve ever had? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: The worst breakup is always the first time you get your heart broken into a million pieces. I think it’s essential for everyone to have it happen once in their life! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: Do fishing and playing rock n roll have anything in common? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Well I draw a lot of inspiration from the time I spent fishing in my life: the alone time, the ferocity of the ocean and the stillness of the mountains are so much a contrast that songs are born from those situations. ADAM (question master) JACKSON: What’s in the future for 36 Crazyfists? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: The future is to continue to work hard in our dream we call 36 Crazyfists, make quality records and tour the earth meeting our friends. ADAM (question master) JACKSON: What’s your ultimate goal as a musician? What is left for you to accomplish? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Well we have exceeded whatever visions we had for this band, but as goals are met, more are thought up! Australia and Japan, we’re coming! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: Now that you’re engaged – is it safe to say that you’ve found true love? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: It is safe to say that I’ve never felt so vulnerable and excited in my life. Truly blessed to be able to feel the way I do. í¢äåñThanks jokes.í¢äå ADAM (question master) JACKSON: I’ve eaten Thai food with you a few times now and I got one question – what do you have against tofu bro? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Ha-ha, one of my favorite things is eating Thai food with my brother (Adam Jackson from Twelve Tribes), but tofu is for the people who believe in it! It has no business in my Thai food.
ROADRUNNER RECORDS proudly present… BAND QUESTION TIME When bands are on tour together, they get close and personal, infact probably too close for hygienic safety. Regardless we asked Twelve Tribes frontman Adam Jackson to get uncomfortably close to 36 Crazyfists frontman Brock Lindow for a one on one Q & A. The part of Magnus Magnuson will be played by Adam…. The results were quite frankly shocking. ADAM (question master) JACKSON: Who would win a fight between you and the dudes in your band – you, Mick, Holt or Thomas? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Well over the years we’ve all managed to fight each other a few times, I think I have the most fighting experience which by all means doesn’t make me the toughest, but I’d still say go ahead and put your money on me! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: What’s the first album you ever purchased? What’s the most recent? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: The first album I purchased was Michael Jackson’s Thriller the most recent was Armor for Sleep í¢äåñWhat to Do When Your Deadí¢äå. ADAM (question master) JACKSON: Where did the pulled-up socks with high tops and shorts style originate? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Well I guess I’ve just always done it, no real explanation, I guess I just like the 70’s basketball look! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: I recommended a book for you to read last tour – recommend one for meí¢äå_ BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Yeah the book I recommend for you is a book by Lance Armstrong called í¢äåñIt’s not about the Bikeí¢äå. Totally changed my life! ADAM (question master) JACKSON: What celebrity/icon would you like to meet? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: I would love to sit down and have a few beers with the cyclist Lance Armstrong, people who are close to me know how much I look up to him. ADAM (question master) JACKSON: If you met God at the pearl gates what would you want God to say? BROCK (the rock) LINDOW: Well I guess I would want God to welcome me firstly! And I would hope he knew how my faith got me through some heavy times!

Clutch Transnational Speedway League Greatest experience on tour? Playing shows in Atlanta, Orlando, L.A. and San Fran. Those were the best shows. Most horrible experience on tour? Leaving the tour because I was going to miss all my new buddies. It made me squirt a tear punks! Most embarrassing moment on stage? Walking off stage every night with a big blood stain on my pants from my left hand being cut up. It looked like I had a period for the first time, when everybody knows I started my period my I was twelve. Do you have any sort of ritual before going on stage? Hardcore meditation with a pipe, call an old friend, Makers & 7’s, good luck kiss, before show bo-bo’s. With which band would you love to tour with? Queens Of The Stoneage, and Clutch, because I would watch those sets every night for the whole tour. I absolutely love those bands. If I couldn’t be a musician, I would work as… I probably would have been a good student and would have become a Doctor like my Dad. Preferably a Gynaecologist, because the female body is so fascinating. Best advice you ever heard? Blue your cool, Green Serene, Red your Dead, Words to live by… With which famout person (alive or dead) would you love to spend some time with, and why? I would love to spend time alive Drew Barrymore because she seems to be a very sweet and special person, and I have had a crush on her since I was 15 years old. Dead I would spend more time with my Grandmother. She was the most influential person in my life. She’s one of the reasons i’ve made things happen in my life. Anything I really know, I owe to that woman. The runner up is Frank Sinatra, because he’s the Chariman of the Board. REMEMBER: OPENHAND – YOU & ME – OUT NOW!!
Somewhere in a bar in Santa Monica this past February (Grammy weekend, to be exact), Killswitch Engage holed up in a bar one fine afternoon and got down to work. Their mission – drink bourbon and relay their findings. And that they did. CLICK HERE for the preliminary findings. For our money, looks like Ridgemont Reserve 1792 is the way to go. Ill Nino is currently in the studio recording LP #3. What to tell? The band’s A&R Rep checks in with the following update: I can tell you that the guys have recorded fifteen songs 12-13 of which will end up on the finished album. And while every band always tells you that their next batch of material is going to be way heavier than the previous LP — Los Ninos mean it! At this point, just drums and rhythm guitars are done and already you can hear the whole thing becoming waaaay more bombastic, The two fairly dead-on references the guys are making are Slayer and Mars Volta. Sheer brutality melded with real Latin jams ala Santana at his peak. The whole studio vibe is down and dirty this time. While drums were done at a studio in Upstate New York, the Ill Nino guys (with producer Eddie Wohl and trusty engineer Dan Korneff — who are both helming the record with drummer Dave Chavarri co-producing) have set up shop at the band’s practice space in Union City, New Jersey where bassist Laz Pina’s brother owns a full-blown recording studio! It’s probably the most “real” approach to making a record the band could have possibly taken. The lunch special at the Spanish restaurant is still four bucks a plate and cigarettes are well, too expensive! Vocals start this week and already, you can tell Cris Machado has taken a big step up both as a singer and lyricist. As much as the music has matured , the same is more than true of Cris’ side of things. Rather than go on and on trying to explain, suffice to say you’ll hear soon enough. Really, Ill Nino elpee numero tres is really the product of a lot of soul searching. It’s the sound of Ill Nino simply being Ill Nino! As brutal and melodic as a band can possible. Remember, this is a band with legitimate heavy roots (shit, Jorge from Merauder was their original singer!) and a sound that’s instantly identifiable. There’s no chasing of trends going on here. No aspirations other than simply writing the best songs the band can — which means bruisers and anthems with plenty of bloody spice and bloodier sonic salsa!
