“He was my best friend ever. He was my musical soulmate, we did everything together.” Joey Jordison hasn’t spoken much about SLIPKNOT bandmate Paul Gray, who sadly passed away last May. The reason why is evident as you read his cover feature interview in this weeks Kerrang! Magazine, where he talks exclusively and openly about the loss of one of the most important people in his life.
Speaking to the magazine about when he heard the news, Joey tells them, “I just went into blank shock. I was tryng to calm myself down. Then my phone lit up like a goddam Christmas tree. And I am there trying not to fall into tears and I just break my fucking phone…”
Within the 6-page cover feature, Joey talks about the past, the present and also the future, specifically looking forward to the forthcoming Sonisphere dates with Slipknot- “…my friend died but what would he want us to do? Quit? No fucking way!“- and Joey also talks about coming through to the other side of the trappings of success and the man he is now. It’s a riviting and emotional read.
The mag is in all good news agents now.
