Roadrage Ripping Up Vienna

Posted on February 12, 2008

We have such jet-setting e-teamers… following on from UK teamer Steve’s US report on Sinch and Stone Sour, here’s a recent writeup on the Roadrage Tour in Vienna, by our very own teamer Oli Porter. Thanks for the words Oli! Hi guys, just thought I’d let you know how great the Roadrage show in Vienna was!! Considering the venue was a former slaughterhouse and smaller than the London Garage to boot, all three bands went down really well. I managed to find the gig just as 36 Crazyfists came on stage, they sounded great, just as good as the CD! After the set I was having a drink at the bar when I met Tom the drummer from Killswitch Engage, which was cool, he said he would try and remember to tell Kirsten I said hi but we both decided that he would forget! Five Pointe 0 were up next, they went down like a storm with the crowd who started a bit of a mosh pit although when I joined in they all looked scared and decided they had had enough of that! Halfway through the set I went back to the bar where I had the pleasure of meeting Brock from 36 Crazyfists. He is one cool guy, I got some pictures which I’ll email when they get developed! The band of the night though were undoubtably Killswitch Engage, opening with Numbered Days the guys proceeded to put on one of the best shows I have seen in a long time finishing with My Last Serenade after which singer Howard was really moved by the crowds reaction that they even played an impromtu encore, seeming reluctant to leave the stage as the Austrian crowd screamed for more. All in all an amazing gig, we hung out with some of the guys from all three bands at the bar and they are really looking forward to the London show! I wish I could be there! Oli Porter (UK e-team) Roadrage returns to the UK November 22nd.

Here’s Johnny

Posted on February 12, 2008

Johnny Kelly, the drummer for Type O Negative, will be filling in on drums for Danzig during their European tour. Johnny says, “I was contacted by the guys in Danzig about filling in for the recently vacated drummer’s position in the band. I of course, accepted the opportunity to play with Danzig for their upcoming European tour. Being that the drum tracks for our new CD are 99% completed, I couldn’t see any reason not to take Danzig up on his offer. I’ve hung with Glen, Todd Youth and Howie Pyro before and they’re great guys. I’m excited to be playing with these guys and getting back on the road for at least a couple of weeks. The tour begins November 21st in London and ends on December 7th in Warsaw, Poland. I have nothing but great memories of when Type O toured with Danzig in 1994 and I’m really looking forward to creating some new ones on this adventure.” As for news on the new Type O Negative album, the band hit Systems Two studios in Brooklyn, New York on November 11th!

Kermit Joins Spineshank In The Studio

Posted on February 12, 2008

Spineshank has officially wrapped up their first week of recording in the studio. Word from drummer Tommy Decker is as follows: “I just wanted to let you know what the latest news on the recording is…We have laid down the drums to 15 tracks and I have 2 more to do today. I have been doing about 6 takes on each song, then we use the best one. We hope to have all the drums and bass done by Wednesday, November 6, so we can concentrate on everything else. We seem to be on schedule and hopefully we can get this record out A.S.A.P. – April/May 2003. The studio we are recording in is pretty cool. Its owned by Jim Henson productions, so there’s all kinds of muppets and Kermit the frog stuff everywhere. Little Tommy is enjoying it, and the staff at the studio is really cool. We had a chance to meet George Lynch from Dokken, and saw David Lee Roth, who are also recording right now. That’s pretty much it for now, the songs are coming out better than we had hoped and we are really excited about this record. We move to a different studio on Thursday, where we will finish the rest of the record. Like I said, I’ll be done today, so I have nothing to do except sit in the control room like I own the place and talk shit to the rest of the guys (tell them how much they suck). I will keep you updated on the new developments.” TOMMY
