DREAM THEATER TO ENTER THE LONG ISLAND MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Posted on November 16, 2010

On Tuesday, November 16th, The Long Island Music Hall of Fame will hold it’s official ceremony to induct this year’s crop of talented musicians and industry insiders alike into it’s hallowed halls. Standing alongside rock icon Lou Reed and hip-hop legends Eric B & Rakim will be none other than our very own, Long Island, NY-born prog masters DREAM THEATER.

To explore what this honor bestowed upon the band means to them, especially in light of the celebration of their 25th anniversary, we checked in with DT’s revered guitarist John Petrucci.

John tells Roadrunner, “It is a tremendous honor for us to be inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Having grown up on LI and having lived here for most of my life, it has a very special meaning to me. The roots of DT stem all the way back to my home town of King Park where John Myung and I spent countless hours writing and playing music together.

“Being part of a band with a 25 year history who went from playing the local Long Island clubs to headlining at the iconic Jones Beach Theater has been an amazing experience and the induction on Tuesday night is a great testament to that journey.”

Dream theater’s current release is the critically acclaimed Black Clouds And Silver Linings, available now in all good record stores or online here and at iTunes.
