Currently on the road in the USA, KO퐌¿N are preparing for the release of their first album for Roadrunner- Ko퐌¿n III Remember Who You Are, which hits stores on July 12th.

In a recent interview with MyYearbook, guitarist Munky talks about returning to work with producer Ross Robinson, returning to old recording methods, the metal music scene and writing to please no-one but themselves…

“…It doesn’t feel like a job. It doesn’t feel like we have to pump out a record for some label. In the beginning, that’s what it was like. We’re playing this music because it’s from our hearts and our soul. In the past, it was big record budgets and big record deals being like,’Where’s the single?’ We lost focus for a little while. We were trying to find a single that pleased the radio. With this record, we just had to please ourselves.”

July 5th sees PERIPHERY’S self titled debut release in the UK. After playing some shows in support of the album, which has seen a release in their native US (and is therefore available digitally here now), the band have taken to the road with Dillinger Escape Plan in Australia.

Before they headed out, MetalSucks chatted to main-man Misha Mansoor about the forthcoming album…

“I started this band in 2005. I had a bunch of songs then.” Says Misha, “Dude, ‘The Walk’ and ‘Letter Experiment’ were written back then. They changed maybe a little bit, especially ‘Letter Experiment,’ but those were always supposed to go on the album. Maybe what the album was going to be and the songs that were going to be on the album have changed; it’s always sort of evolved and adapted to the songs that were available and the stuff I’ve written. We’ve been planning on putting out this album since at least the end of 2005 or early 2006. So it’s been 4 years, 5 years in the making. It’s kind of crazy when you think of it that way….”

On June 15th, rock legends Aerosmith will play London’s O2 Arena and in support will be none other than our very own AIRBOURNE!

The show will slot nicely in between a ruck of European festival performances Airbourne have planned for the summer, including this years DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, which kicks off at Castle Donnington on June 11th.
