Chimaira/ETID In Glasgow

Posted on February 12, 2008

A review sent in by Richy Muirhead Chimaira 10th Feb King Tuts Glasgow Oh my god! Chimaira in Glasgow was extreme! I loved it. Every Time I die were really good. I enjoyed the set. Highlight song for me was probably Ebolarma. Most of the crowd enjoyed ETID. They did a good job of warming us up for Stampin Ground, and Chimaira. Next up, Stampin Ground. I had seen them before with Soulfly, so I kind of knew what to expect. VERY BRUTAL! Every song just got more and more heavy. í¢ä‰åñOfficer Downí¢ä‰åŒ was the best song off their set. The lead singer did a wall of death during one of the songs. This was really crazy as the venue is so small! I seen parts of the wall of death it was very violent indeed. Then they played 2 more songs and it was time for Chimaira. The half hour wait for Chimaira was well worth it. The lights finally went off, and Implements of destruction came on then smoke started to rise and one by one a band member appeared on the stage. They all started playing in harmony, it was so cool to watch. Then the intro to Power Trip came on and Mark ran onto the stage. Everyone was just going nuts! Rob was playing every note to perfection. It was so good! They then fell into Cleansation. Which everyone loved. After that Chimaira decided to play some older stuff from Pass out of Existence. They started off with Let Go, and played other favourites like Dead Inside and Severed. During the breakdown of Severed Mark introduced Ricky Evansand to us all. He said he should introduce Ricky rock n roll style by playing a drum solo. So the drum solo started. It lasted AGES! I was on the front row and when I eventually got my eyes off the solo everyone was practically drooling!! It was awesome! Ricky rules! Chimaira then went and played songs of The Impossibility of Reason like, Eyes of a Criminal, Overlooked, and The Dehumanizing Process. During The Dehumanizing Process Mark told us all about the press calling him í¢ä‰åñMetal Mosesí¢ä‰åŒ and he shows us all why they call him it. So he split the crowd into two halves and during the heavy part they crazy dudes in the pit ran at each other. Just like Stampin Ground had did earlier. Then Mark threw a copy of the re release of The Impossibility of Reason into the fans. It was funny watching everyone steal it off each other. Chimaira then played Indifferent to Suffering, my favourite song. It was so good when they played it. Rob and I were shouting the lyrics in each others faces! It was class! It was probably my favourite song of the night. Rob Arnold then played a wild guitar solo for about 2 minutes. It sounded so good! The guy rules on guitar! …./ Then they got down to their last song of the night, PURE HATRED! Oh my god! This song live is so immense! As the drumming intro kicks in then the guitars slide in and it all breaks out into craziness! Everyone was jumping like hell and shouting all the lyrics. Fantastic final song! At the end of Pure Hatred, Mark thanked all the support bands and all us fans for all being there and being a part of an insane gig. Matt, Rob and Jim, all shook the hands of the fans down the front it was really good. I had a great time! My first time at King Tuts and it was bloody awesome. Everyone was wringing off sweat and had sore throats. That was my 3rd time seeing Chimaira and my best! Cant wait to see them again! Richy Muirhead

The 36 Crazyfists video shoot for “At The End Of August” was shot in L.A. on January 24th. The location for the shoot was in the woods of Northern L.A. The band put on a killer performance as fans wandered through the woods to an open clearing to discover 36 Crazyfists rocking out to “At The End Of August”. Lit from the back and surrounded by trees, fans moshed away as Brock and Co. tore into the track over and over. Director Zach Merck (Ill Nino, Nevermore) captured all of the band’s passion and intensity. Keep your eyes peeled for a cameo from an ex-member of another Roadrunner band as he came out to the shoot to show the 36 boys some love and ended up in the video. above words from Marketing Matt As for some words from one of the video shoot extras, the below taken from the official 36 Crazyfists message board… “Hey all, I’m new to posting on the Forum, but I wanted to let you all know about the video shoot last night. It was awesome. There was only a few of us around 10 or so – it was great. They gave us free pizza, the band was talking with all of us extras and everyone was really into it. We got into at least 6 moshes. It was insane. The video is going to RULE!! It all ended at around 12:30 am and most of us that stayed till the end were already pretty tired but the whole thing was fu’kin amazing. Brock got injured in one of the takes. We were all getting into it and started a mosh and I think he wanted to stagedive right on us, or if not he just fell, and he landed on some guys head and hurt his ribs. I think he’ll be alright though!” And if that’s caught your interest, check out a bunch of photos taken at the shoot right HERE. In other 36CF news, the band will be playing 2 special pre-release shows in Feb – in Anchorage, Alaska on Feb 27th and in Portland, Oregon on Feb 23rd!

Chimaira/ETID In Nottingham

Posted on February 12, 2008

CHIMAIRA í¢ä‰åäóì NOTTINGHAM 09-02-04 After having seen this tour in London, Birmingham and Manchester this weekend I was stoked to be going to my fourth gig in a row, as the previous three shows were simply kick ass. The Chimaira guys were doing a signing before the gig and there was a really good turnout at the store. There was nothing ‘weird’ that I saw them being asked to signí¢ä‰åŒ_maybe you’ll have to ask them! The guys were super cool as usual signing everything/posing for photos/chatting to the fans. Doors for the show opened at 7.30pm and about 30 minutes before we went in we were told that CHIMIARA’S set was going to be filmed for SCUZZ TV and that if any people were to crowd surf they would be ejected. This was a direct result of the insanity at the previous night’s gig in Manchester. As there was no barrier, there was a constant rampage of crowd surfers, which not only made it very uncomfortable for the fans at the front, but also made it harder for the band to get into the gig. They had fun, but it wasn’t pleasant. Every Time I Die were pretty tight tonight. I’m getting into these guys more every time I see them. The crowd weren’t too bad for their set, not the most active crowd so far, but they went down reasonably well here. Stampin’ Ground had a great response here tonight. Good set, got the crowd riled, and Adam (lead vocals) managed to break the ceiling in the venue right at the end. Security weren’t too happy! The wait was over! Chimaira hit the stage at 9.30pm and as they have been doing all tour, opened up with 2-3 minutes of Implements of Destruction. Mark then hit the stage and they kicked straight into a crashing performance of Power Trip followed by an equally impressive Cleansation. The venue for the gig was terrible (a tiny club room) but it didn’t stop anyone in the audience from enjoying every second of Chimaira’s set. They have never failed to impress me live and tonight was no exception. The set was as follows: IMPLEMENTS OF DESTRUCTION POWER TRIP CLEANSATION IMPOSSIIBILTY OF REASON PICTURES IN THE GOLDROOM LET GO LUMPS SILENCE/RICKY’S DRUM SOLO/SEVERED DEAD INSIDE INDIFFERENT TO SUFFERING THE DEHUMANIZING PROCESS OVERLOOKED EYES OF CRIMINAL ARMY OF ME PURE HATRED Every song was packed with so much conviction, precision and energy it was impossible for no one in there to have been amazed by the level musicianship within his band. Ricky is a simply astounding drummer. To think he only had 14 days to learn this set is a testament to this guys ability. Anyone who doubted him was left open jawed, along with everyone else who KNEW he’d be perfect for the band, after his mind-blowing solo. YOU ROCK m/ m/ It was great to hear tracks off PAOE and the crowd loved it too. Before they kicked into TDP, Mark asked the crowd if they remembered the nickname he’d been given by the UK press. He received aloud response of í¢ä‰åñMETAL MOSES!í¢ä‰åŒ after which he parted the crowd and through a LTD edition copy of TIOR in the middle He said if anyone ran into the middle before he said so, they would stop playing and walk off. Obviously no one was stupid enough and the result was thunderous rendition of The Dehumanising Process whilst masses of bodies were slamming into one another trying to get the CD. Priceless stuff! Tonight set, apart from a couple of glitches with the sound (which no one noticed) went extremely well and the set was once again tight as hell. They closed with a pummelling performance of PURE HATRED, which had every single person screaming from the top of their lungs í¢ä‰åñI HATE EVERYONE!í¢ä‰åŒ It was beautiful!! Everyone left extremely happy and very impressed with the set and the performance of the guys. They ALWAYS leave you wanting more! These guys deserve to blow up really big. They have the ammo, the talent, and the songs. Metal is still alive and well thanks to bands like Chimaira. I LOVE YOU GUYS! P.S. I’m from the neighbourhoodí¢ä‰åŒ_FRUIT!!! 😀 SARINA GILL, LONDON

Fear Factory Post Video Clip

Posted on February 12, 2008

Do you want to see the new Fear Factory video?? Shot on Sunday (Feb 8), Burton says it was filmed “in a big derelict building that we found on the beach in Perth.” Head on over to the band’s official site for a quick preview of what is to come. The guys have posted a short clip of their video for ‘Cyberwaste’ HERE. “It is about Internet forums and the people who go on them and talk a bunch of nonsense. It is an angry song and one of the more hard core songs we have written. This song is a statement and I’m sure everyone will get the picture.” – Burton C. Bell

Chimaira/ETID in Birmingham #2

Posted on February 12, 2008

Thanks to Adam Powell for sharing his thoughts on the Chimaira/Every Time I Die Birmingham show! “The lights go down, silence falls and the crowd looks on. They’re now confronted by the long, melodic intro to “Implements Of Destruction,” the minute or so that it lasts flys by as you know what’s coming up. It’s edging towards the end and the crowd are getting itchy with anticipation, the atmosphere is full of excitement and mysteriousness. The song kicks in as the band come on stage riffs blazing. The crowd scream and start moving around, getting into the state of mind that is Chimaira. They burst straight into “Cleansation” and the place goes crazy. The band are going at it with all their might and the place is exploding from every orifice. One-by-one they trail through their set of classics old and new. Going past “Severed”, “Lumps”, “Dead Inside” only stopping to instigate circle pits and split pits. They hit the aspects of “Eyes Of A Criminal”, “Overlooked” and ended with the all-energetic “Pure Hatred”. The fast flowing, surfing manic chaos that just evolved before our eyes has left everyone wide eyed and on their knees begging for more. But without an encore the band leaves you with the feeling that you don’t need one, the cripling domination that they’ve just had in their hands, and unleashed upon us is more than enough.”
