Now here’s another great review of the Unholy Alliance tour, also about London. Thanks to “Lovenkrands86” who emailed this in! “I saw this show in London and spent 21 hours travelling on a bus there and back from bonny scotland i knew this would be a show to remember but i didnt expect it to be THIS GOOD!! Mastodon – Again these guys came on and just went crazy. People got more into them and the heads were banging. A very good solid set that set everyone up for the night. Hatebreed- Fuck me! This was INSANE. The pit was crazy. im glad i wasnt in it or i would have died. Jamey Jasta looked like he had eaten nothing but sugar before this. he was so full or energy and running around blasting out the vocals like a crazied man. Imense!! He asked for a circle pit and by god he got a CIRCLE PIT!! the whole bottom of the floor was in a pit. Im glad i was near the back enjoying this amazing band. THis is Now,We Still Fight, Live for this,Beholder of Justice are some of the songs that sent this crowd into a craze. Fists were in the air screaming HATEBREED! Come back quick quys!! Slayer- The best live band ever!! This set was un-fucking beilieveable! God Hates Us All started it and Raining Blood *the best live song ever* finished it. This set went from strength to strength. Screaming the lyrics back at them seemed to inspire Slayer more to destroy the place. Heads were moving at a freinzed pace. Angel of Death,South of Heaven, Post mortem were the highlights of the set for me and of course including raining blood. They still have the killer instinct after 20 years and rocked so much more than glasgow. Slipknot- Ok i retract the slayer best band comment. Slipknot are the best live band ever! This was the crazied motherfucking set in history! I went fucking crazy and nearly passed out due to it but it was worth it. Prelude 3.0,The blister exsits, Sic, Disaterpieces, Eyeless. Pulse of the Maggots, Three Nil sent the crowd fucking crazy but nothing could prepare anyone for Duality. Corey gave a heartwarming speech about craig not being here but the good news Volume 3 is a gold record. *They fucking deserve it* So back to the speech. Craig is doing alright and sends his love but make him hear Duality while he is in america. Fucking hell the crowd came alive. Spit it out saw EVERYONE get down on the ground and jump the fuck up!! This is one of the coolest sites ever and was better with me being at the back instead of the front for once as it gives you a different prespective of how INSANE this is. This led them to walk off. Everyone stayed and waited. The chants got going. They hit the stage with People=Shit. Wait and Bleed was sung by everyone in the crowd. This led to your new International fucking anthem!! This song is called….. SURFACING. a see of middle fingers were in the air. Fucking hell the pit was side to side!! the lenght of the hall!! They walked off the to corey holding a union jack and walking off to circle!! Best gig ever!! The bands were crazier than in glasgow and put on a better show!! The crowd wasnt as crazy but fuck this is one of the greatest gigs ever and will go down in history!”
Cradle of Filth’s Dave Pybus: “Our schedule is pretty grueling right now. We have a few injuries at the moment too. Fans in South America will have seen that our Guitarist Paul Allender was not present. His stand in for the tour was our studio engineer, Dan Turner. Paul suffered a serious hand injury prior to the tour and we did not want to cancel as we had worked hard planning the trip for months. Paul is now fully recovered in time for this recording session and the U.S. tour which starts on Hallowe’en with Arch Enemy, Bleeding Through and Himsa. I also managed to injure my back during the show in Santiago, Chile but we only had one more gig to play before I could return home and rest. That seems to be recovering day by day”.

A review of the Unholy Alliance Sunday London show on October 10th, from Andy Bartlett! “Whilst waiting in the queue, there was a certain buzz going around the fans. There was some what of a friendly rivalry between the Slipknot and Slayer fans. The Slayer fans had clearly been on the booze already as they were throwing beer cans and glass bottles at each other as the queue wound down the alley way. MASTADON only had the opportunity to play about 4 or 5 songs as they were the first band. They were a great band to open this show. Brutally heavy and killer vocals are one way I would describe this band, the crowd was already moving to them with anticipation for who they really came to see. HATEBREED had a much longer set than Mastadon and they showed the crowd why they were second on stage. Hatebreed were clearly in well working order as their part in the Unholy tour was to come to an end. This band was obviously on this tour to get the mosh pit in full working order just before Slayer. The fans loved Hatebreed and they showed it to them by getting in the first circle pit of the night. I was sitting in the stands, so I could get a good look of how fast this pit was. It was very fast. When Hatebreed ordered a circle pit, all of us in the seating stands immediately stood up to watch the circle pit more than anything. Hatebreed left us with even more excitement and anticipation for the gods of metal who were to come on next. So far, it had been a good show, so SLAYER would have to work hard to please us. All through the interval, there was a long, loud Slayer chant that was creating the atmosphere for the evening. The lights went out and Slayer come on stage, with their instruments at full volume and heaviness, ready to blow the shit out of the Hammersmith Apollo. All through the stands, everyone was standing rather than seating. I was in Block 6, Row N, seat 11 and the whole of my row was moshing in this confined space to the sound of the Apocalypse. Out of the 2 Slayer guitarist, Jeff was performing better than Kerry King, Jeff was the one who was pulling of the better solo’s. All of the expected set list was played, everything from the likes of Disciple, to Mandatory Suicide, South of Heaven to the legendary soundings of Raining Blood. By the look of things, this could be a band that Slipknot could not overcome. The buzz of the crowd was at boiling point. Once again, the loyal legions of fans got a chant going, this time for SLIPKNOT. Once again, the lights go out, the whole crowd on its feet, this is the band that many came to see. Their intro to the set was the Prelude track on their new album- VOL3. And they get straight to work, proving why we came to see them over Slayer. The mosh pit on the ground level was at its most brutal point. The band played some of the old favourites like Disatsterpieces, People=Shit and Spit it out. But their set was mainly devoted to their newest album. Songs like Duality and Vermilion were played with the whole legions of Maggots singing as loud as possible, in tune. This was a moment where you could only be part of this experience on THIS tour. Then came time for the UK’s new National anthem, Surfacing. Corey pulled out a corny trick to get the crowd happy by pulling out a Union Jack. When it was all over, the fans all walked out with a smile, thinking í¢äåñI got what I wantedí¢äå. This was truly an Unholy night for London that will live with us forever. After the gig, lots of Maggots went down to the Hammersmith Underground station for their journeys home. They all showed their loyalty to the Knot when they encountered a bunch of singing Scotsmen who were slagging of Slipknot. The maggots came out on top when it came to singing about their passions for Slipknot.” Andy Bartlett

An email from Rob Barlow… who attended the Oct 8th Unholy Alliance show in London. “I just got back from the Unholy Alliance tour before the gig it was a long 2 hour wait to get in after missing the 1st act as soon as I sat down it was on to Hatebreed! Hatebreed: For a band I never heard before they was awesome they had me head banging all the way though there set, before I heard them I was like yeah don’t expect me to be doing anything just sitting there, but damn they got involved with the crowd and that’s always a nice thing, my 1st time seeing/hearing Hatebreed and I can now say I am a big fan of their music! Slayer: Well I heard Slayer before and wasn’t much of a Slayer fan but I got involved head banging all the way, Slayer didn’t get involved that much with the crowd but their music was awesome after what seemed a 2 hour set they played raining blood the only song I do like of their’s then they finished, I quickly ran to the toilet and got back in time for slipknot. SLIPKNOT: Long time fan 1st time seeing them, purely amazing, always getting involved with the fans, the music was amazing, I cant remember the whole list of songs they did but I was blown away after head banging for hatebreed & slayer my neck was literally broken but how can I not head bang for my favorite band?. Duality was amazing live, that was the best song they did all night! After spit it out Corey Taylor said thank you good night! Quite a few fans walked out but the ones who stayed kept clapping and shouting Slipknot as loud as they could my legends soon came back on stage and did (sic) then finished with Surfacing. This was my 1st gig ever and im happy it was I got to see Hatebreed (who I now love) and I got to see slipknot (who I love even more) but it was till after the gig I felt stupid, waiting for 2 hours hoping to see slipknot, Joey walked out and said Hello to me I replied “Hey you know when slipknot might be coming out?”, he laughed at me and said who he was I was gob smacked and felt so stupid, I got a picture with him that I will soon be getting framed and put on my wall Thank You Hatebreed, Thank You Slayer & THANK YOU SLIPKNOT!!!!!!”
