Southampton goth-punks CREEPER have enjoyed a phenomenal rise since their debut sold-out hometown show at The Joiners last August. Having subsequently hit the road their first full tour as guests to Funeral for a Friend, they’d signed a recording contract with Roadrunner Records UK within a year. They’ve since performed at major festivals including Download, 2000 Trees and Camden Rocks.
The quintet will release their first Roadrunner Records EP ‘The Callous Heart’ on September 18th and will also play a special sold-out EP release show at The Old Blue Last on September 15th.
Another taster of the EP comes with the video for ‘The Honeymoon Suite’ which continues the story of life, love and obsession that commenced with ‘Lie Awake’. Drawing visual references to cult classics The Lost Boys and Donnie Darko, the video underlines the band’s unique aesthetic style which informs everything from their merch to their artwork.
Visually and conceptually, their inspiration comes from old school horrors such as The Exorcist, The Twilight Zone and Phantom of the Paradise, as well as films which celebrate the outsider such as Heathers and Stand By Me.
Produced by Neil Kennedy at The Ranch, ‘The Callous Heart’ builds upon the visceral blend of sweeping energy and crushing dynamics that powered their self-released debut EP. ‘The Callous Heart’ still reflects their roots – The Misfits, Alkaline Trio, The Damned – but their wider influences, from the doomed romanticism of Nick Cave to the crunch of Metallica and the flamboyance of Roxy Music and David Bowie, seep into their sound.
The EP will be available on digital and 12" vinyl formats, with the vinyl bundled with the brand new t-shirt design that features in the video for ‘The Honeymoon Suite’. Pre-orders are now open at iTunes and at the Roadrunner Records UK store for the vinyl version. ‘Lie Awake’ is already available as an instant grat track and will be joined by ‘The Honeymoon Suite’ from August 10th.
‘The Callous Heart’ EP tracklisting is as follows:
1. Black Cloud
2. The Honeymoon Suite
3. Allergies
4. Lie Awake
5. Henley’s Ghost
Metal overlords Trivium have announced the release of their blistering seventh album. ‘Silence In The Snow’- which follows 2013’s acclaimed ‘Vengeance Falls’ – arrives in stores and at digital retailers on October 2, via Roadrunner Records.
Produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Slash, Alter Bridge, The Amity Affliction) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Gojira, Lamb of God), ‘Silence In The Snow’ is available for pre-order at www.trivium.org as well iTunes and Amazon. Pre-order the deluxe edition of the album with two extra tracks via these links: iTunes / Amazon. Fans got their first taste of the new record yesterday, when the band unveiled the official music video for the sweeping title track at snow.trivium.org.
The genesis of the record’s title track dates back to a 2007 run supporting Heaven and Hell in Japan. "When I watched them live, it was something that really spoke to me, especially the song ‘Heaven and Hell’," recalls frontman Matt Heafy. "I’d never heard metal summarized so well like that. Afterwards, I came up with ‘Silence in the Snow.’ We loved the song, but it just didn’t fit with the music we were making at the time. The reason was, perhaps, we weren’t ready for it. We foreshadowed our destiny back then, and we’ve finally grown into the song. It required massive musical growth, and we’re ready now."
As an album, ‘Silence In The Snow’ is long-gestating creative milestone. It took eight years before Trivium felt equipped to tackle the challenging work of weaving their classic influences into a modern record. Fueled by the inspiration of true classic metal – spanning Black Sabbath and Rainbow, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Pantera and Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica – Trivium took on vocal coaches and guitar lessons to further their creative evolution. The result bridges the history of hard rock/metal while powering it forward, particularly on tracks like the epic ‘Blind LeadingThe Blind’ and upcoming single, ‘Until The World Goes Cold’. The cinematic, orchestral opener ‘Snofall’ however, was composed and recorded by legendary Emperor visionary Ihsahn, taking his inspiration from the title track’s melody.
The track listing is:
1. Snøfall
2. Silence In The Snow
3. Blind Leading The Blind
4. Dead And Gone
5. The Ghost That’s Haunting You
6. Pull Me From The Void
7. Until The World Goes Cold

9. The Thing That’s Killing Me
10. Beneath The Sun
11. Breathe In The Flames

Lauded as one of modern metal’s most potent live acts, Trivium will debut the title track live for the first time at the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival, taking place in Derbyshire from August 6 – 9. Trivium headline the Ronnie James Dio main stage on Friday, 7 August; their only UK show in 2015. The four piece then continue on into Europe for further festival headline slots including Belgium’s Alcatraz, Germany’s Summer Breeze, and France’s Motocultor. A US co-headline tour with Tremonti beckons in September and October, before the band deliver a main stage performance at California’s Knotfest, headlined and curated by label mates Slipknot.
