The band entered the studio with producer ANDY SNEAP last week, and the band are making regular updates on their official MySpace (which can be found HERE).
Writes Shawn:
So I arrived on Wednesday, right on the heels of Mr. Sneap (He arrived from the UK on Tuesday) and with each passing day, we seem to get more done than the last, I am happy to say. This morning Dave, myself and Andy finished another tune, and as I write this, I am almost finished recording the song that I have written – Dave had to step out for a few hours, so he will most likely hear it on Monday morning. No idea at all if it will or will not make the record, so we will have to see about that one Andy and I both dig it, so there you go.
It has been a good creative week – The pieces to the musical puzzle are slowly being put together, and I like what I am hearing. I hope you wil as well.
Head the their BLOGS PAGE to check out more- including entries from Dave Mustaine himself.
The release date for the follow-up to current album UNITED ABOMINATIONS is still currently TBC. Should you wish to check out the current offering, you can pick it up online AT THIS LOCATION

MACHINE HEAD have been forced to cancel their remaining two performances on the Slipknot tour in Antwerp and Luxemburg, in the wake of guitarist Phil Demmel collapsing onstage during Machine Head’s second-to-last song Friday night in Sheffield, England.
Says bassist Adam Duce, “After considering the seriousness of Phil’s health condition, we all feel that skipping these last two shows is the best thing to do. It’s a bummer to end this tour like this after doing 9 amazing weeks and 3 continents with Slipknot, but getting Phil back to the States to get checked out is the most important thing right now. Our sincerest thanks to Slipknot and Children of Bodom for their support and understanding, we understand that it’s a big disappointment to the fans, and Phil is very sorry about it, but we all feel that his health and safety is most important at this time.”
Machine Head plan to resume touring Wednesday in Los Angeles for the first of two Metallica shows at The Forum.

Extreme metallers SATYRICON recently played 3 UK dates as part of their current European run of shows in support of their current album THE AGE OF NERO. KERRANG journo’s were in attendance, and it seemed they had a bit of a blast. If you missed the tour, check out the review below and make sure that you are in attendance when they next hit the UK!!!
“There’s no questioning the unstoppable force of Satyricon, however. Satyr is in fine fettle this evening, even if his new look (slimmed-down figure, slicked back hair) is less metal overlord, more Andrew Eldritch – perhaps a suitable icon to invoke, as a continual streamlining of his music increasingly echoes the direct-yet-grandiose, coldly sexual and knowingly camp sound of late 80’s Sisters Of Mercy. But where the latter relied on a drum machine, Satyricon have Frost, a drummer who could probably take on an electronic rival and win, judging by the precision blasting he delivers tonight, laying a perfect battery over which band spray immense, undeniable riffs.
Indeed, it’s these riffs – written by Satyr, performed live by he hired guns who make up the rest of Satyricon – which are key to the appeal of these metal veterans. Satyr has a knack for coming up with guitar lines which sound obvious in the best possible way: designed as precisely as a mathematical equation, but with deathless hooks which align them far closer to classic rock and metal of the ‘90s Norway (speaking of which, you can’t imagine, say, Gorgoroth coming onstage to AC/DC’s Hell’s Bells). As a smattering of oldies fit round a set drawing largely from Now, Diabolical and this years stellar The Age Of Nero, it vision sounds like nothing so much as victory: this is a simply majestic display of power.” KKKK
