“England has always been a special place for this band from the very beginning. We can’t think of a better way to culminate our celebration of Paul’s life than to share it with the ‘maggots; at Knebworth and the millions more watching around the world.” – COREY TAYLOR.
The above statement summed up how everyone at Knebworth felt on the final day of Sonisphere. Regardless of the rain bucketing down, SLIPKNOT had a massive gathering of fans supporting them during their set. The band played a tribute to Paul on the night, which you can see by clicking here. This was a follow on from the 2 minute silence that had been held during the afternoon on Sunday. It was incredible being in an arena full of thousands of people raising the horns in complete silence. There is some great footage of the silence, which can be viewed at this location:
Clown spoke with The Pulse Of Radio about the support from the band’s fans:
“I definitely want to spend just a moment thanking all of our kids out there because, I mean, when you have kids all around the world — Japanese, people in Great Britain, all of Europe, and then everybody in America — when you’ve got all these people coming together to let you know how much he was loved, and how much he’s gonna be missed, and just how important he was to what we are doing, it’s really made a difference.”
There are countless videos from SLIPKNOT’s performance at Sonisphere UK, a few of which we’ve embedded below for you to watch, as well as some awesome photos and reviews from what was a wet and soggy but most definitely magical night:
