Ferret A & R rep Paul Conroy gives his updateí¢äå_ The new MADBALL record sounds flat out amazing. I’ve been a huge fan of this band since ‘Set it Off’ and I can honestly say this is their best effort to date. The production on this record is very HEAVY, heavier then any of Madball’s previous records. However, the feel of the songs very much have the classic Madball feel. This is not the kind of band that will ever change up their style to cater to a certain trend (there are no Maiden riffs happening here!). Madball’s producer put it best, “This record sounds like Madball on steroids”. ‘Legacy’ is Madball’s first album for five years and should hit the streets at the start of August.

So here it is, OBITUARY’s own perception of their music. A track by track of their entire new album (pt1). If you haven’t heard the band CLICK HERE and check out INSANE track 3 from their forth coming album Frozen In Time. Go to the bands ARTIST PAGE to view the album artwork. This track-by-track is featured in the latest issue of ZERO TOLERANCE, as part of an awesome 4 page feature by Chris Alo. TRACK-BY-TRACK 1. REDNECK STOMP The opening track is a mid paced and repetitive head banger. Listening to it, you are patiently waiting for the vocals, which never come, and then the song quickly fades out. í¢äåñWe figure it’s been eight years and it would be cool to make everyone wait just three more minutes for the vocalsí¢äå adds Donald. í¢äåñIt’s also not an annoying intro where you will skip it for future listensí¢äå 2. ON THE FLOOR With the fade out of the previous track, the start of this is like a punch in the face. John Tardy belches forth with brutal delivery from the opening second in this fast paced number. The pace only slows down for the chorus. í¢äåñThat’s a fast songí¢äå comments Frank Watkins. í¢äåñIt’s got that hook and I think it will become one of the better known songs.í¢äå 3. INSANE Another relatively fast song, with Donald Tardy supplying the thundering drums while his brother lays down the especially tortured vocals. Sounds a bit like it could have easily been on The End Complete. í¢äåñWe did that one on our European tourí¢äå comments Frank Watkins. í¢äåñWhen we would play all the old songs we just throw that in and it fits in perfectly, like a classic. Some kids didn’t even know it was new.í¢äå 4. BLINDSIDED Originally titled Samurai, this one shows a lot of that Celtic Frost-inspired classic Obituary groove. Relatively evenly paced, the song carries on but never gets boring. í¢äåñThat’s the meat and potatoes on the albumí¢äå explains Donald. í¢äåñThe song is mid tempo and it just stays there. If another band tried playing at that level they would fall asleep. But with us there is still so much energy, it is just bad ass.í¢äå 5. BACK INSIDE Another very quick song, with lots of fast but basic guitar leads. Has a catchy chorus of John Tardy ruthlessly barking out í¢äåñBack inside!í¢äå í¢äåñThat was a song I already had writtení¢äå Trevor states. í¢äåñ I came down here, got real stoned and came up with it real quick. I think there are only two or three riffs in the whole song,í¢äå he laughs. REMEMBER: OBITUARY – FROZEN IN TIME – OUT JULY 11th

Chimaira – new music from upcoming self-titled release now up… Mark Hunter and Rob Arnold have now left our shores, from where they were spending time mixing Chimaira’s upcoming self-titled release with Colin Richardson. 8 of the 10 tracks that will be appearing on the release have been mixed, and due to modern technology, it’s like the band is still abroad – they have a live feed to the board. Technology, what will come next? Speaking of technology, and the reason for this update, new Chimaira music is here. The song, “Nothing Remains.” Mark Hunter’s introduction to the song is as follows: “What’s up friends? So we are super excited for you all to hear “Nothing Remains” today. It is going to be the first song on the new album and we truly feel it sets up the record perfectly. I can’t say that this is what the rest of the record sounds like, because each song has its own personality…but I will say a lot of what happens on this song you can expect from other tracks. Hope that makes sense…haha.” Anyway, enough bullshit, enjoy the track! check our MUSIC section for the goods.
