When ALTER BRIDGE headlined London’s Happersmith Apollo as part of their huge headline tour a couple of months ago, NME.com were there with their cameras. The team hung out with the band in their dressing room, watching their warm up rituals and chatted to vocalist Myles Kennedy and guitarist Mark Tremonti about whet they are thinking about before they hit the stage.
The footage is now up over at the NME website and you can check it out by pointing your mouse in in this direction– and we highly recommend that you do so!

Every week over at signmeto.roadrunnerrecords.com we feature a prospective unsigned band that piqued our interest and turn it over to you guys to decide: is it a hit? or is it shit?
Today, we’re featuring American black metallers Necronomichrist. Yes, you read that name right. The author of the piece, Roadrunner’s own Lilly Ryden, explains: “Maybe it’s the 4pm sunsets, the cold, or my complete aversion to Christmas carols, but I can’t seem to listen to enough of [black metal]. So when I stumbled upon Necronomichrist, I was fairly pleased.”
She goes on to note that the band’s sonic offerings include “tenebrous melodies and vocals that could turn any white X-mas black.”
See what she had to say about the band HERE, and go RIGHT HERE to give them a listen and decide for yourself: is it a hit, or is it shit?

Doing Graphic Design from an old age home.
Best music moments of the last 30 years.

Highlight of your career thus far?
Playing Wacken to 80,000 people. I was so worried we were not “metal” enough for that fest. It ended up being one of the funniest shows I have ever played!
Crappiest moment in music in the last 30 years.
George Bush getting elected for a second term… I have never felt so lost in my whole life.
Album from your generation that will be legendary in 30 years.
Kyuss Welcome To Sky Valley – premium desert rock at its finest. You can’t do better than this record.
Roadrunner classic album.
Life Of Agony ‘River Runs Red’ will always be my favourite record on RR. Amazing from beginning to end – minus all the in-between song ‘theatrics’. What makes it a classic? The brutality of that record, the crushing guitar tone…. and of course the RIFFS – some of the best out there…. bang your head!

When ALEXISONFIRE frontman George Petit met with Altsounds recently, talk not only focused on their recent headline tour of the UK and their EP release Dogs Blood, but they also discussed the Canadian music scene.
“There’s lots of bands.”, Comments George, “Chad Kay is like a hip hop artist from Canada and he is one of the most talented MC’s I’ve ever met. He’s got a new album called TSOL which is fucking incredible. There’s a band called Quest for Fire. They are a grungy sounding band they are really good. Mature Situations which is Chris Colohan from Cursed and Left For Dead. Yeah Mature Situations, they play as old people. They get make up done and the drummer plays in a wheel chair. They are almost like a skate punk band. The list goes on! There’s a very vibrant music community in Canada and we’re pretty lucky to be from there I think…“
