Canadian Sushi

Posted on February 12, 2008

What’s going on in the world of Thornley? A good amount…catch up with the following update from the band’s bassist Ken Tizzard: “Hey there everybody. How’s it going? Things on the road have been a little bit crazy for us. The shows are going great and everybody’s response to “So Far So Good” has been incredible. We are still crossing Canada with Nickelback but will be in the USA shortly touring with 3 Days Grace. “We just arrived back in Calgary after a long two days travel and video shoot in Montreal, PQ. Whoever thought shooting a video outside in minus 25 degree weather was a good idea was somewhat incorrect. Ian is in a lot of pain from the harness moves that left him bruised and chafed in very uncomfortable spots. All in all some bruising and minor frostbite is a small price to pay for entertainment. “For the most part, days off have been used for resting. However, the West Edmonton Mall did provide a few hours distraction for some of us who dared to go on the roller coaster, eat sushi in the food court and check out the remake of Dawn Of The Dead. Also, we had a chance to pick up Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society Boozed, Broozed and Broken-Boned DVD and check out some monster rock.” that being said, Ken wishes everyone well…and we ask that you check out the band’s MUSIC section to hear “So Far So Good.” debut Thornley CD – titled Come Again – in stores May 17th

Exhorder And Pestilence Reviewed

Posted on February 12, 2008

Last month marked the release of two more 2 From The Vault offerings, Exhorder Slaughter in the Vatican / The Law and Pestilence Consuming Impulse / Testimony of the Ancients. For those of you who know about these acts, you know…for those that do not, here is some online research for you – both releases are reviewed in Lollipop magazine. Links to the reviews, and the first couple lines of each piece are as follows: Exhorder: “The name Exhorder strikes awe and intimidation into the hearts of true metal hordes everywhere. What, you never heard of ’em? Well then, now we know who the faithful and the come-latelys are. Y’all can keep your hipster metal (screamo), just pray that you don’t run into these REAL DEAL, Louisiana-bred lunatics in a dark alley. Formed in the mid-to-late ’80s, Exhorder are credited with starting the ‘Southern trendkill’ style of thash-hardcore-sludge insanity…” read full review HERE. Pestilence: “As part of the early-’90s jazz/death movement, Pestilence left behind four albums of pure progressive mindfuck that easily shames anything ‘technical’ today. It’s not nostalgia talking when I say that Pestilence remain one of the most underrated metal bands in history: It’s simply the truth. Like The Beatles of their genre, Pestilence never repeated themselves…” read full review HERE.
