SLIPKNOT have once again made history.

ALL HOPE IS GONE, the Des Moines-based band’s fourth studio album, claimed the coveted #1 debut slot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart in the US, after an extraordinary SoundScan recount. The album was initially announced today as a #2 debut, a mere 13 units behind The Game’s #1 debut, marking the closest margin in SoundScan history. The chart positions resulted from a reported 238,272 copies of All Hope Is Gone sold in its first week in stores, while The Game’s LAX reported 238,285. With such an unprecedented margin, Roadrunner Records and WEA requested an historic recount. SoundScan obliged and chart positions have been reversed, with Slipknot claiming #1 and a new margin of 1134 albums. Final recount numbers are 239,516 for All Hope Is Gone and 238,382 for LAX sold during their first week of release. This marks a landmark achievement for Slipknot and Roadrunner Records.

Slipknot has seen similar outstanding first week sales globally with #1 debuts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland, #2 in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium and Japan and a #3 debut in Norway.

In addition, Slipknot has been nominated for their first MTV Video Music Award in the “Best Rock Video” category for the album’s first single, “Psychosocial.” Premiered on FNMTV in July and then later added to regular rotation at MTV and MTV2 in the US, the video saw over 80 spins on the channels and has an excellent chance at taking home a Moon Man on Sept 7th.

Having spent their summer as the headliner on the inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, playing to an average of 18,000 people a night, Slipknot’s world tour continues on October 8th in Japan. The band will tour Australia, the UK and Europe for the rest of this year and return home for a US headline run in early 2009. Tickets for their December tour in the UK are close to selling out. DREAM THEATER have released a video of a live performance of their stonking track FORSAKEN! Check it out below!!!

The clip is taken from their upcoming DVD release CHAOS IN MOTION 2007/2008, which documents their “Chaos In Motion” world tour, which kicked off June 3, 2007 at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Milan, Italy and concluded almost a year to the day later on June 4, 2008 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It’s essentially a travelogue of their most recent touring experience.

The DVD will be available not only as a double DVD but also as a CD/DVD five disc collector’s set which includes two DVDs and three CDs, containing 14 live tracks featured in the DVD set as well as expanded artwork.

The DVD will hit stores in both formats on SEPTEMBER 29th.
