As we all know, DREAM THEATER’s Jordan Rudess is a big techie/gadget fan. He has designed apps for the iPhone and iPad so it’s safe to say he’s also a big fan of Apple. With this in mind, we stumbled upon this rather fitting tribute to Steve Jobs, who passed away recently. Jordan performed a special dedicated piece of music on his iPad using MorphWiz along with the Korg Kronos and he had the following to say about his fitting tribute:

Although I never met Steve Jobs personally, his work greatly influenced my life and my work. I’m grateful to have been touched by his wizardry and that he shared his vision with all of us. This is a song I wrote for my own iOS instrument called MorphWiz and is a tribute to an amazing and inspirational human being.

DJ Skrillex features on three tracks and other producers included on the album are Noisia, Downlink and Excision. WITHIN TEMPTATION played a stonking show in New York recently and what fans may not have known then is that, that was Robert Westerholt’s final live show with the band for now. As we announced recently, Robert stepped down from taking part in live performances with the band, allowing longtime collaborator, Stefan Helleblad, to take his place onstage while he takes over childcare duties at home and concentrates on writing. Our friends over at Roadrunner US took some pictures at the New York show, which you can see over on their website.

We were pleased to see the ‘Five Weirdest Addiction’ post on the Metro’s website today as the article features a man who is addicted to heavy metal (aren’t we all)!? The Metro explains:

A man in Sweden has been awarded disability benefits for his addiction to heavy metal. It means he’s also allowed to mosh along at work and take time off to go head banging at gigs. Roger Tullegen struggled for nearly ten years to have his addiction officially recognised: “I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against.”

We wonder how long it will be before this addiction becomes interationally recognised – although we all headbang at our desks at Roadrunner HQ regardless, of course! You can read more over on the Metro’s website.
