Dirt 2: The Musical- the biggest tour yet from KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES– finished it’s run of mainland UK a week ago, and whilst the guys get together in Wales ahead of their forthcoming dates in Ireland to throw around some ideas for album number 3, the folks over at ILikeMusic have posted their interview with guitarist Joel online.
“We just love playing songs that we have written.” Joel comments backstage at their sell-out London show, “That’s why we started the band in the first place, just to play songs that we like. It’s just good that other people like them as well now! It’s just getting bigger and bigger and we can do cooler production stuff now with lights and stuff, so it’s a really exciting experience.”
When asked what has been the highlight of the band’s career thus far, Joel doesn’t hesitate, “It’d have to be the shows in this tour,” he states, “they’re the biggest that we’ve done on our own. We can do our own thing and play as long as we like, bring our own production stuff in… Pretty much every night on this tour has been one of the most memorable shows that we’ve ever played.”
As Dirt 2… was the last tour in support of the band’s current offering Dirt, the topic of conversation naturally moves towards what the band will be working on for the follow-up. “I think it’s going down a more rocky route as you can probably tell from Dirt. We’re becoming a little bit more of a rock band. We’re just going to continue down that road for the next record and hopefully make a big rock record! After our tour we’re going to have some time off to do some writing and then pop to Ireland before Christmas. Then we’ll tour round Europe early next year whilst continuing to write. Probably record mid-2011. That’s the master-plan at the moment. Hopefully it’ll work!“
