Nathan Leone has made a statement about the recent attack on his brother Matthew Leone, the MADINA LAKE bassist who was brutally attacked a few days ago in his native Chicago.

Nathan’s statement is as follows:

Hey everybody,

I just wanted to take a second to thank you all for your overwhelming love and support. For those who don’t know, a few nights ago my twin brother and best friend Matthew was severely injured while trying to stop a man who was beating his wife on the street 1 block away from my apartment. Matthew was all alone and managed to save the girl but got beaten pretty badly in the process. The couple then left him laying unconscious in the middle of the street. Both have been subsequently arrested.

Matthew is currently in the hospital recovering from brain surgery, a fractured skull, jaw broken in 2 places, a broken nose etc. The doctors have removed a part of his skull to allow for the swelling in his brain to subside and we’re currently waiting for leakage from a hematoma to stop. After 3 days the prognosis is looking better.

I’ve been next to him throughout the entire process and as impossible as it is to see him go through it, I’ve seen a strength I didn’t know existed and i’m so proud of him. As of this morning he recognized me and is able to have minor conversation and move around. When something like this happens people are often inclined to despise humanity but in this case, the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, fans, neighbors, etc. has far overshadowed that notion and has proven to us that although there are certainly some evil people in the world, there are far more amazing people.
