“I got my first flash of titties from a Venezuelan hooker.” -Cristian Machado Now if THAT isn’t deserving of a ‘Quote Of The Day’ tag, we have no idea what the hell is… Want more? For reference, that quote was taken from a piece on Ill Nino in this month’s US issue of Revolver Magazine (issue #21, December 2003). In other Ill Nino news, check out THIS LINK for an interview from abroad with bassist Laz Pina. And last, Ill Nino’s sophomore release – Confession – is officially one week old. What does that mean? The nerds from our US press department (as always, that is meant in the nicest possible way) have something to say. Their press release today goes exactly like this: ALMOST 28,000 PEOPLE GO TO CONFESSION New York, NY: Going to confession is an act that even the most pious Catholics try to avoid. But religious beliefs aside, nearly 28,000 hard rock fans willingly and happily went to confession last week. That’s right. Confession, ILL NINO’s sophomore effort for Roadrunner Records, sold 27,863 copies its first week on the shelves. The percussion-driven Confession, which follows up 2001’s Revolution, Revolucion -which has scanned over 140,000 records to date – enjoyed a hefty, healthy debut at #37 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #8 on the Hard Music chart, quite a feat for the Latin-flavored New Jersey sextet. On the radio front, the first single from Confession, í¢äåñHow Can I Live,í¢äå continues to heat up the radio charts. The song is sitting at #28 on the Mainstream Rock charts, #31 on the Active Rock charts, and #30 on the Heritage Rock charts with strong airplay on such heavy-hitters as WAAF/Boston, WYSP/Philadelphia and KUPD/Phoenix. The album has landed in the top 10 at all the Metal Radio charts, including CMJ Loud Rock, CMJ Crucial Spins, and FMQB’s Metal Detector. ILL NINO, an Ozzfest 2001 alum, just wrapped up an extremely successful U.S. tour with Spineshank, 40 Below Summer and Skrape and is currently in Europe as a co-headliner on the Road Rage tour with labelmates Spineshank and Chimaira – a tour which is selling out and bumping up to bigger venues overseas. Once the band returns to U.S. soil, it will hit the road again. And again. And again. Confession has been lauded by Revolver as an album by a band that í¢äåñis plenty heavyí¢äå and that í¢äåñlikes to get a little more adventurous than most of its metallic brethren.í¢äå
