Arch-sludgemeisters DOWN have announced a rare UK tour for this April. You can catch Phil Anselmo and the NOLA posse at the following shows for 'An Evening With Down', where they will play for nearly two hours:
Tue 8th Apr – Glasgow Academy
Wed 9th Apr – Birmingham Academy
Thu 10th Apr – Norwich UEA
Sat 12th Apr – Manchester Academy
Sun 13th Apr – London Brixton Academy
Tue 15th Apr – Dublin Ambassador Theatre
Having floored the Download Festival two years ago with a surprise 'main stage' set, these will be their first shows on these shores since that memorable visit. Those UK dates inspired the band to get together and begin writing for their third studio album which hit stores late last year. Critically lauded on release, 'Down III: Over The Under' was rated very highly in many of the leading rock magazines' 'Top Albums of 07' polls.
To anyone who cares anything for classic rock and metal, despite only releasing three albums, DOWN are important. Semi-legendary and almost mythical – rising every six years or so to deliver a benchmark album to the metal hordes. Boasting an amalgamation of talent from the American South's most important, genre-defining metal outfits – Pantera, Crowbar, EyeHateGod, Superjoint Ritual and Corrosion of Conformity – and featuring one of the most charismatic and engaging metal frontmen of our time, Phil Anselmo, they push boundaries and play by their own rules. Catch them now, as you never know when you'll get to see them next!
