Blisteringly heavy, ‘Vendetta’ is the sound of a band with a new lease of life, taking steps forward while remaining loyal to their roots. Crafted over several months in a cramped Huntingdon Beach rehearsal space, the album was laid down with renowned metal producer, Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts.
Following up 2003’s breakthrough “Haymaker” album was never going to be simple for the four-piece from Orange County. Vocalist Dave Peters says “Vendetta is more pissed (off) than ‘Haymaker’ and a lot more diverse too. The fast parts are faster, the breakdowns more crushing and the guitars, drums and especially vocals are a lot more dynamic than anything we've ever done. Everyone from Madball fans to Pantera or Slayer fans can get into it.”
The album features a couple of surprises, with the band’s good friends Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage) and Sean Martin (Hatebreed) dropping by the studio to lend a hand on “The World Behind” and “Shut You Down”, respectively.
Incendiary tracks like "Speak The Truth" and "Burn" are sure to become part of the band's pit-generating, anthemic repertoire as soon as fans hear them spinning out of their CD players. Meanwhile "Discipline" and "To Live Is To Sacrifice" are delivered with equal might, but layered with a metallic force that explains why Throwdown covered Sepultura's "Roots" during their stint on 2004’s US Ozzfest. The more metallic-leaning tracks on "Vendetta" also shed some light as to why many fans have declared Throwdown the next Pantera. Then there's the album's title track, a pissed-off, venom-fuelled diatribe that would make Black Flag proud, dipping deep inside hardcore history to find it's future.
