The Undying Darkness

German metalcore pioneers, CALIBAN are set to release their fifth studio album, ‘The Undying Darkness’ on 27th February 2006.
‘The Undying Darkness’ was recorded in Autumn ’05 at Prinzipal Studios in Germany with In Flames frontman, Anders Friden, behind the production desk.
CALIBAN’S previous breakthrough album, “The Opposite From Within“ carved an impressive route through the European metallic jungle and made international journalists sit up and take notice of this little metalcore band from Germany’s Ruhr valley. However, newie “The Undying Darkness” is set to knock it up a level, being even more mature, powerful and uncompromising. They’ve ventured to the next step, consistently developing and perfecting what they started back in 1998: singer Andy Dörner and guitarist/backing vocalist Denis Schmidt (who handles the melodic sections to Andy’s gruff parts) make full use of their vocal ranges and literally outdo each other on “The Undying Darkness“. Main songwriter and guitarist, Marc Görtz is at his most creative yet: brutal guitar staccato-salvos, brutal walls of alternately complex and clear guitar, beautiful harmonies that consistently flair up and an incredible driving rhythm that makes you eager to see how this will be translated live on stage, aided by drummer Patrick Grün. All part of a sound cocktail that will knock the socks off every metal-core fan.
Highlights include the first single, “It’s Our Burden To Bleed“, which thrills with a metallic hardcore focus, whilst dramatic, emotional tracks like “Nothing Is Forever“ and “I Refuse To Keep On Living…“ will move even the most frosty soul. The band have also invited some guests to perform on certain tracks: Mille Petrozza of Kreator enthusiastically revives the old school in “Moment Of Clarity“ and the band’s take on Bjork’s “Army Of Me“ features the soaring voice of German vocalist, Tanja Keilen (Sister Love).
“The Undying Darkness“ was mixed and mastered at Backstage Studios in the UK by metal god, Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage).
