ROADRUNNER RECORDS TO RELEASE ALBUM BOXSET FROM COAL CHAMBER AHEAD OF EUROPEAN TOUR AND FESTIVAL APPEARANCES

Posted on April 25, 2013

Roadrunner Records celebrates Coal Chamber's catalogue with the release of multi-disc box set Coal Chamber: The Complete Roadrunner Collection 1997-2003. Set for release on June 3rd, the four-disc retrospective will be available on CD and digitally and includes Coal Chamber (1997), Chamber Music (1999), Dark Days (2002), and Giving The Devil His Due (2003).

The band will also kick off their European tour (see itinerary below) this summer at Germany's biggest festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, followed by a run of dates which include an appearance at Download Festival in the UK. They will also perform at Metal Hammer's Golden Gods Awards at London's Indigo2 on June 17th. The dates will be the band's first return to Europe since they reunited in 2011.

Originally formed in Los Angeles, California in 1993, Coal Chamber's intense breed of metal coupled with their riff-crushing live show established the band as one of hard rock's most exciting acts. Having finalized their line-up- Dez Fafara (vocals), Miguel Rascón (guitars), Rayna Foss (bass), and Mike Cox (drums), the band released their eponymous debut album Coal Chamber in February 1997. The album yielded the smash hit single ‘Loco', and sold in excess of 500,000 copies in the US alone.

Having toured extensively in support of Coal Chamber, the band released their second album Chamber Music in 1999. Featuring a greater emphasis on hooks and melodies, and a cover of Peter Gabriel's ‘Shock The Monkey' with Ozzy Osborne on guest vocals, Chamber Music is regarded as the band's most accessible record.

2002 saw the release of Dark Days, often viewed as the band's heaviest and darkest album. Opening track ‘Fiend', was released as a single and has remained one of Coal Chamber's best-loved songs.

Following the band's split in late 2002, Giving The Devil His Due- a collection of rarities and remixes- was released in August 2003.

In 2011, the band reunited its 1993 line-up (with Chela Rhea Harper replacing Rayna Foss on bass). Catch Coal Chamber live at one of the following dates:
