This week's What's On Your iPod comes from your humble webmaster! Frankly jealous of all the fun her chums have been having shuffling their iPods, Sami Westwood (er, me Ed.), has decided to shuffle her iPod and see what the bejeeze it comes up. This is what she it had to offer on in the shuffle stakes. Back to normal next week with Paolo from TRIVIUM, but it would be great to get some comments here and see what YOUR shuffles are. Lets share some good music and some good stories...
Nirvana- Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle
Freakin' LOVE Nirvana. Officially the band that got me into rock and metal. Yes I was one of THOSE people who heard Smells Like Teen Spirit and decided to move away from pop, but unlike a lot of them it was not a phase. My Mother finally accepted that I was not going to 'grow out of it' when I accepted my post at Roadrunner. I love In Utero. It's full of amazing tracks and amazingly this one happens to be my favourite. Chuffed with this first shuffle.
Citizen Cope- Bullet And A Target
Will seem a random one for people who know me- I'm known for being a predominantly metal head. Cope was recommended to me by Dan, the drummer in Madina Lake, one night when we were hanging out drinking and talking and covering every topic known to man. Music obviously came up and Dan made me promise to check out 2 tracks by Cope- even making me type them into a reminder on my phone- and this is one of them. I actually have 3 tracks on my iPod from him now and love them all. Great lyrics, great vibe.
Dillinger Escape Plan- Phone Home
Oh man I love this band! And this is one of my fave tracks off this album (Miss Machine), which I think as a whole is just a masterpiece. I love how this band are so chaotic and yet so structured and have some of the biggest grooves I have come across. This track almost reminds me of NIN in parts. Killer tune. Roll on their next offering. And their next UK tour. Man this band are something to behold live.
At The Gates- Raped By The Light Of Christ
This (With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness) is the only album I own by At The Gates. I heard one At The Gates track and loved it and headed out and picked up an album (I do that. I'm old skool.) and to be honest I have barely listened to it. It's not really appealing at the moment I have to say. Ha.
Gojira- To Sirus
What a phenominal band. I get PR envy- I would love to work with these guys. They excite me so much. It was thas album From Mars To Sirus that got me into the band and this is a stunning track. My fave would be Flying Whales though. For me that demonstrates all the elements of Gojira I love- the heavyness, the technicality, the albility to chugg like mo fos and deep deep grooves.
